BMW’s classic roadster enters the 2012 model year as the first US model to receive BMW’s all-new TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine. The new 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-Cylinder will first power the Z4 sDrive28i that will arrive in this fall. Like the company’s latest TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter turbo inline-6, the new 2.0-liter engine combines high-pressure direct-injection and BMW’s VALVETRONIC intake control (hence the name: TwinPower) with a forced induction system consisting of a single twin-scroll turbocharger. With 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, it offers more power and torque than BMW’s normally aspirated 3.0-liter inline-6 that it replaces in the Z4 sDrive30i. The Z4 sDrive35i with its twin-turbo inline six continues for 2012 as does the top-of the-line Z4 sDrive35is.

What a video! I went to the BMW showroom yesterday just for fun, and I saw this brand new F10 5-Series test drive unit. I immediately asked for the keys to this and made a thorough video on the car, which resulted in a video over 17 minutes long, and I had to split the video into two. The first part is all about the overview of the car, with an engine shot and a start-up with the door open. The second part I take you through the iDrive screen, radio, air-con, functions inside the car that needed power and start-up clips with the door closed as well as from the exhaust. Note; This local Malaysian version of the F10 523i is powered by the N52B25 2.5litre inline six BMW engine, with 204bhp and 250Nm of torque. It is not the same as the 523i in Europe that uses the N53B30 3.0litre inline six engine with 204bhp and 270Nm of torque.

The BMW F01 is an automobile platform expected to go into production in September 2008, for the 2009 model year, as a replacement for the current 7 Series (BMW E65/E66) platform. The long wheelbase, codenamed BMW F02, will be longer by 14 cm (5.5 in) compared to the BMW F01. Styling-wise, the new 7-Series follows the Chris Bangle common trend of revolution followed by evolution design life cycles. For the 7-Series, the previous E65 / E66 model marked a revolution in the 7-Series design, so this new F01 model must naturally be an evolution. The front end is quite clearly inspired by the BMW CS Concept, from the large nostrils to the headlamps which actually have a similar internal configuration of individual lamps and eyebrow but differing slightly in shape. It now looks more conventional and less controversial than the model it replaces. The interiro has also been reworked. The flagship 760Li with a V12 engine will be introduced later and will be equipped with ZF’s new 8HP 8-speed automatic transmission. The F01 platform is expected to underpin a smaller Rolls-Royce slotting in below the ultra-luxury Phantom, internally known as the Rolls-Royce “RR4″. This $250000 car would be assembled in Germany alongside the 7 Series and would share that car’s future V12 engine.

The iDrive system in many BMW cars has a hidden back end that can be access through the navi wheel. there is a lot of information in here, most of which i dont actually understand but i’ll be showing you how to access it anyway. This should work with all iDrive systems from around 2003 upwards.
