@fgolebiewski77 : Thanks for your comment, Hans ! BUT… From 11/2009–09/2011 the 525d was a 6 cylinder, since 09/2011 the 525d is a 4 cylinder…This review was recorded in September 2010, take a look at 6:14 and you can see the famous inline-six
If this is a 525d then it is not a 6 cylinder engine but 4!!!! Silly mistake Hans
@redcapote : That was before I drove the new A6
Recorded this video in September 2010 and had the chance to drive the new A6 in May 2011. I’m planing on reviewing the A6, but I want one with the 3.0 TDI. I took the Jaguar XF instead of a A6 2.0 TDI that I was offered to rent…Interior: Well both are great cars and both have a stunning finish, but I think the BMW is still my first choice. I just love BMWs
You’re saying the BMW 525d cannot match the interior quality of the Audi A6? Everyone else who compares the A6, BMW 5-series, and Mercedes E-Class seems to give top points to the Audi. Perhaps you should review the A6.
@kevinmosleyI : I agree ! Here in germany diesel is cheaper than petrol, and the engines take less fuel…That’s why they are so popular here and why you see my testdrive so many diesels. Thanks for your comment Kevin, great to read from you ! Cheers
I have been in love with the F10 since it came out. i really, really wish the diesel versions were brought here to the States…BMW is the best!!

Great review!
One of the first good video’s I found with the BMW 525d !
Want’ hear more from the 6 cilinder.
@epiphaknee : A german car magazine called this the best automatic-transmission in the world right now. And eventhough it’s just a classic torque converter automatic, it’s very fast, very smooth and just an absolute pleasure to drive. I drove it in this 525d and in a 523i touring, if the Porsche PDK was as good as this, I would have never complained about it
I don’t think I have seen a 525d BMW in the US. After this excellent review, I will be keeping my eyes open for the newer Bimmers. It amazes me that a 200 plus horsepower engine can perform like that on the Autobahn. That must be a very nice transmission! Another informative and outstanding automotive review – but would you expect anything less from TheGetawayer?
